David Giuliano
Postcards from the Valley: Encounters with Fear,Faith, and God, is a collection of short notes to fellow sojourners from David Giuliano. Many arise from the experience of the valley— his own and ours together. Others essays reflect his deep love and hope for emerging communities of followers of Jesus. There is fear and there is faith in the valley, and there are surprising encounters with the Holy One.
Plenary One: Do Not Fear, Only Believe
What does it mean to be faithful when life seems to be bringing loss to our door, calling us to walk among the long shadows of the valley? How do we come to know God in new ways there?
Plenary Two: You Are with Me…
An invitation to contemplate healing, transformation, and the gift of life in faithful companionship in the valley. What does it mean to be faithful in times of struggle?
Plenary Three: When Was It That We Saw You?
Where do you experience mystery, comfort, joy? Where do you see the Spirit of Christ in the world?
Plenary Four: I Am the Resurrection and the Life.
What new resurrection is happening in your life? What new life are we being called to as a community?

Workshop Leaders
Ross Smillie
Fear, Hope and Ecological Peril:
Given the enormous ecological challenges facing our world, hope can be challenging. On the one hand, denial and skepticism often masquerade as hope. On the other hand, it is easy to despair that we can make the changes needed in time. This workshop will explore some of the challenges, in order to identify a realistic hope and where faith communities can make a constructive difference.
Ross Smillie is a United Church minister who has taught courses in ecological ethics and theology through St. Stephen's College for over a decade, and is currently writing a book on the subject.
Fran Hare
Enneagram:
The Enneagram is a tool that gives us information about our favourite sins and best strengths, helps us work on self integration, and assists us in understanding others. It is said to have roots in ancient Sufism, but has become useful for its spiritual insights and practical applications.
Fran Hare is a nearly-retired minister at Gaetz Memorial United Church in Red Deer. She has a long-time interest in people's personalities and characters, and loves to share information. She also has a passion for any wisdom that aids folk in both personal growth and interaction with the world for the healing of humanity and the planet.
Lynn Wilson
Healing Touch:
In this workshop participants will receive an introduction to Healing Pathways. This will include a guided meditation to ground and connect with God and some exercise with energy. participants will be taught a full body energetic self connection.
Most folks come away from this experience relaxed and feeling a little more connected to their body.
Lynn Wilson has been practicing Healing Touch for 15 years through the United Church. She completed the Healing Pathway in 2000 and is now working on her instructor's training for Level 1. Lynn enjoys working in small groups to share her ongoing experiences with the Healing Pathway.

The Masculine Spirit:
How men make connections with themselves, their families, and the world.
